ABA Intervention

(More details below).Below is a summary of what I already have Intervention After gathering as much data as possible to pinpoint what the target behavior is (tardiness), the possible causes of it from the results established from the FBA, and after discussing a desirable outcome an intervention was thought out. An evidence based practice - assessment would be used to figure out reinforcers. The Preference Assessment, would further pinpoint possible reinforcers and desirable  items that can motivate the participant to modifying the target behavior of tardiness. For instance, if the participant enjoys breakfast, but the current breakfast isnt something that the participant enjoys much (which results in a decrease of interest to actually get up early to eat a sufficient breakfast when the family cooks stuff the participant doesnt like much) then maybe with the support and agreement with the participant family a breakfast the participant enjoys (favorite breakfast foods) can be implemented since the family enjoys cooking and the participant loves food. This could work as an edible (food) reinforcer. If the participant doesnt get up on time then the participant will miss the bonus breakfast and have to settle for a grab and go breakfast (as long as the participant does eat a sufficient breakfast it shouldnt be any ethical problems) with the consent of the participant. This reinforcer could be established using the evidence based practice of Differential Reinforcement of Other Behavior (DRO). As long the target behavior doesnt take place then the reinforcer will be received as soon as the participant wakes up on time automatically. A reinforcer is most effective if it occurs right after the target behavior (Mayer, Sulzer-Azaroff & Wallace, 2014). If its discovered that the participant enjoys music as well then an alarm clock with the participant favorite music can also be used as a motivating reinforcer. An alarm clock without the snooze option will be most sufficient. After deciding what reinforcers to use the next thought was how to measure the target behavior also using evidence based practices. The method of frequency would be used as the measurement. For instance, if the participant is scheduled to wake up at 7:30am each day we will tally up how many times throughout the week the participant achieved this or was late. To advance the intervention an AB design could possibly be implemented to compare and give insight as to whether the intervention is working or not. By doing so, we would use frequency for about a week without the intervention (DRO/reinforcers/bed time/alarm clock) and then do the same, but with the intervention the following week to see if the intervention decreases the frequency the participant was late. Here are the questions I need help answering Explain intervention (bedtime of 10pm put in place, alarm clock without snooze & favorite music playing, & bonus breakfast as a reinforcement) Explain Differential Reinforcement of Other Behavior (DRO) Explain AB Design Explain results (successful or not)Mock data - for example first week (5 day week) participant was late 3 days (woke up only 2 times at 7:30am) without intervention. Second week (5 day work week) (with intervention, bedtime of 10pm put in place, alarm clock without snooze & favorite music playing, & bonus breakfast as a reinforcement) participant got up by 7:30am every day besides 1 day (on time 4 days out of 5) (sick the last Thursday). ****Optional graph****  (Can provide graph if youd like, but must explain results & must be AB design graph research on google on how to do AB graph correctly & what it looks like) must not take up entire page. It can be small.Clearly describe the intervention you implemented. Provide sufficient detail such that readers of your intervention procedure would be able to replicate the procedure with high treatment fidelity. Then, describe how effective the intervention was in changing your own behavior, what problems you had, any steps you could have taken to achieve better results, and any other relevant insights that might be applicable regarding your attempt to modify the behavior. Now consider all of the tools you have available to you now that we are nearing an end in the course. Are there changes you would make to enhance your intervention since you created the plan for it in Unit 6? In particular, would you now incorporate antecedent approaches or punishment-based approaches? Why or why not?(Punishment approach is not recommended reinforcement is suggested in ABA therapy please research). Please be sure to discuss any ethical considerations (ABA/BCBA code of ethics search on google) that might be applicable with respect to the type of intervention you chose and the behavior being addressed.

Answer

ABA InterventionIntroductionABA is an intervention which is aimed at treating autism. It is based on the premise that certain behaviors can be taught through rewards. Therefore, people are more likely to be inclined to engaging in practices which they believe will earn them a reward (Artoniet al.,2018). Thus, the professionals apply various principles with the aim of measuring the outcomes which will be realized in the process. The professionals also put a lot of care to ensuring that the goals which are attained are measureable and specific. Thus, the professionals are interested in the particular outcomes which they are interested in as it relates to the client. It saves the amount of time, which would, otherwise, have had been used to address the challenges of the client appropriately....
