In the story, Bobinot, the man, is keen on telling his son that it was going to rain, given an arrangement which was evidenced on the clouds. The son, Bibi, is scared of the rain and felt that he needed a lot of protection from his parents. His father assures him that his mother will shut the door so he will not be harmed by the storm (Chopin, 1899). The story is important, especially with respect to showing how setting contributes to the plot of the story.
