Instructions: Each student will write a 5 page (in addition to the title, abstract, and reference pages) APA formatted critical analysis using synthesized research from Roots Episode 3 & 4 and Chapters 6-10.Here are suggested step by step instructions:1. The theme "Social and Cultural Life" will be the topic of your paper.2. Brainstorm ideas for your paper.    Free write or use mind mapping to get ideas about what to write for your paper. Using the selected theme, write down what you know about the topic based on information from the film and the readings. Think about the six questions: who, what, where, when, why, and how.3. Create a thesis for your theme based on your brainstorming session and the information from the film and the chapter readings.    Your thesis is your position on the main point, idea, or central message of your selected theme. It should come at the end of your introductory paragraph and should be clear and specific as possible.4. Outline the body of your paper.    You must use a minimum of four sources.    Think about what you want to include in your paper. Remember that whatever you cover, it should support your thesis. Use the provided rubric to ensure that you get a perfect score for your essay.5. Write your paper. Every paper should have a clear introduction, body, and conclusion and should be five pages in length.    The introductory paragraph should include the context of your topic, your thesis, and a general guide of what your paper will discuss.    The body should be the bulk of your paper. It includes the main points that support your thesis. Try to use a few quotes as possible and practice paraphrasing them instead. You can also include oppositional positions as well.    The concluding paragraph should summarize the points outlined in your body. It should also restate your main argument (thesis).6. Proof your paper.    Check to ensure that youre citing all unoriginal ideas. Check to ensure that citations are formatted correctly.    Check to ensure that your thesis is clear and that the information you present in your paper is accurate.    Check to make sure you have no more than 25% similarity score.7. Write your abstract.    The abstract is a summary of the entire paper. It should only be one paragraph long.8. Create your title and reference pages.    Come up with a unique title for your paper. Dont forget to put your name, date, and course name on the front.    *Reference page: For any in-text citation, a reference should be created. Be sure that the reference page is formatted correctly and is in alphabetical order. Note: Each required source should be used in your paper.9.
