Dmitry ShostakovichDmitry is a famous composer from Russia known for his numerous and good works, many of them composed under the immense pressures of the tyrant Stalin regime in the Soviet Union. At the age of 13, Shostakovich entered the Petrograd Conservatory where he learned piano. He started a career as a composer with the Symphony No. 1 (1924-1927) which quickly catapulted him to fame (Taylor, 2017). The symphony comprised of multiple stylistic roots; the influence of diverse composers including his contemporary Sergey Prokofiev.
